Ashland Information


285 miles S of Portland, 50 miles W of Klamath Falls, 350 miles N of San Francisco


The visitors center is at 110 E Main St (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm; tel 541/482-3486), and there's a seasonal information kiosk - with longer hours - at the entrance to Lithia Park off Main Street. Greyhound buses drop passengers on the edge of town near the I-5 freeway exit. Ashland has over sixty B&Bs ($75-200), most of which are in charming Victorian homes. Ashland B&B Network (tel 1-800/944-0329) or Southern Oregon Reservation Center (tel 1-800/547-8052) can get you a room (and theater tickets).


Ride the Bus in Ashland

Bus fares in Ashland are free. Fares to areas outside Ashland are $1.00.

There are two bus routes in Ashland:

Route 10 and Route 5. Where the two routes overlap, the buses stop approximately every 15 minutes. Overlapping stops are marked with an orange triangle on the map. The overlap area is between the Plaza and the junction of Siskiyou Boulevard and Ashland Street.

Route 5, marked with a red line on the map runs only in Ashland. Route 10, marked with a blue line on the map, comes from Medford, via Phoenix and Talent on Highway 99, circles through Ashland and then returns back to Medford. To view and copy the bus map, scroll down and click on the icon.

The City of Ashland is committed to providing affordable and accessible transportation. The City underwrites the cost of Bus route #5, which runs only in Ashland at a cost of $200,000 per year, and the cost of free fares on both routes for up to $40,000 per year in conjunction with the Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD).

Southern Oregon University underwrites the cost of free bus service district-wide for SOU students, staff and faculty.

Bus Notes

  • Bus service is Monday - Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. No weekends service.

  • The Ashland fare begins at the Jackson County Hot Springs but stop on the north end of town and at the Ashland Hills Inn bus stop on the south end of town.

  • Transfers are available for $1.00 to routes out side of Ashland.

Bus Tokens and Passes

People wishing to ride the bus outside of Ashland may purchase tokens and passes for convenience at City Hall in Ashland.

Full fare

  • $10.00 for ten $1.00 tokens.

  • $38.00 for a monthly pass for unlimited rides.

Seniors 65 and older

Youth 10 - 17 (under 10 ride free)

  • $5.00 for ten tokens.

  • $19.00 for a monthly pass for unlimited rides.
