Calaveras County Attractions: Anheuser-Busch Sales of San Andreas Distributor of Anheuser-Busch malt beverages for Calaveras, Amador, Tuolumne and portions of Alpine and Mariposa counties. Products include Bud family, Michelob family and Specialty Brews, Natural family, Busch family, King Cobra, O'Douls non-alcohol, and products from Kirin, Widmer Brothers and Red Hook. Black Sheep Winery Black Sheep is a family owned and operated 3,500 case winery. The winery specialty is zinfandel, but they also make cabernet sauvignon, semillon, merlot, and a second label called True Frogs Lily Pad Red. This wine pays homage to our frog heritage here in Calaveras County! The winery is open for tasting on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 and weekdays by appointment. Informal tours and picnic area available. Broll Mountain Vineyards Broll Mountain Vineyards produces estate bottled Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from their Murphys vineyards. Sample their ultra premium wines at their Tasting Room at 106 Main Street, Murphys, behind Century 21 office. Satuday and Sunday 1-5pm and weekdays by appointment. Chatom Vineyards Chatom Vineyards is nestled in the Esmeralda Valley in Calaveras County. The Vineyard boasts 14 varietals of grapes planted on 65 acres including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Brunello Sangiovese and 6 Portuguese varietals. Chatom began producing wines under a custom crush program in 1985. The Winery and Tasting Room opened in early 1991. Our Tasting Room is opened 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in a beautiful garden setting and picnic area. We invite you to enjoy the wonderful wines and beautiful scenery. Domaine Becquet Winery During the Gold Rush era, Domaine Becquet was known as Mountain Gate, the perfect access to the Foothills from Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento and the Bay Area. The beauty of the Sierra is quite evident at this elegant winery, with its century-old oaks, its creek and romantic pond. If the wines are California-born, they clearly have a French accent with complexity and finesse. Besides Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese, Domaine Becquet also produces olive oil and honey in the tradition of Provence. Tastings and luncheons Wed. through Sun 11am to 5 pm. Beautiful mountain setting at 3000 ft. elevation in tall pines, cedars, and majestic oaks. Above the fog and heat of the valley. Open to the public year-round. Tournaments welcomed. Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort - Ext. 544 Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Mother Nature have teamed up to create one of Northern California's finest golf experiences. Public tee times are accepted 7 days in advance. Soft spike required. Meadowmont Golf Course A 9-hole, par 36 golf course in the beautiful mountain town of Arnold on scenic Highway 4. At 4000-foot elevation, this flat and very family friendly course is fun, easily walkable with rates from $10-$18 for 9 holes and 2nd 9-hole rates from $5-$7 (carts available). Tournament groups welcome! Calaveras County Arts Council Visit the Calaveras County Arts Council. Every two months, new local artists are featured representing a diverse selection of media and styles. Two annual shows are "ArtSpirit" showcasing high school art, and the "Holiday Affordable Gifts of Art" Exhibit. Call for hours. J Nelson Framing Gallery Open daily 10 - 5. One of the most experienced and professional custom framing businesses in the Sierra Foothills, specializing in restoration of antique frames and oil paintings. Owners Mike and Janie Nelson are accomplished artists as well. Their stylish gallery is located on Main Street, Murphys. Studio Gallery Open 10-5 daily. The Studio Gallery is owned by two artists, Donna Perkins and Bambi Papais. You'll find whimsical watercolors by Bambi or acrylics Americana style by Donna. You'll also find unusual gifts, decorating accents and reproduction or antique furniture. Open 7 days a week. |
