About the North Carolina Speedway
A Rockingham Tradition

A joint venture between Darlington Raceway builder Harold Brasington and landowner Bill Land, North Carolina Speedway's first race was held in 1965. Over time, the track came under control of L.G. DeWitt, a local trucking company executive who supervised reshaping the original flat mile track into the present, banked 1.017-mile oval in 1969. North Carolina Speedway (formerly North Carolina Motor Speedway, often referred to as Rockingham) is a 1.017 mile oval with 22 degree banking in turns 1 & 2 and 25 degree banking in turns 3 and 4. 2004 was the last year of operation for this facility. . . . .more
