Cranbrook Art Museum gives voice to contemporary artists like Lynda Benglis, Mark Dion, Bruce Nauman, Gilles Peress, Alexis Rockman, Bill Viola, and Andrea Zittel, as well as promising newcomers like Cranbrook's own Academy students.

The museum's changing exhibitions are a continuing commentary on our society and world. From contemplative to cutting edge, the exhibitions challenge emotions and sensibilities. Its permanent collection - The Cranbrook Collection - showcases Cranbrook's profound influence on the worlds of twentieth-century art, architecture and design through the work of its artists. The simple grace of a Saarinen chair, the color and depth of a Maija Grotell vase, the abstract geometry of Harry Bertoia's metalwork, the startling realism of Duane Hanson's Body Builder tell the story of Cranbrook through the individual expressions of those who were touched by this extraordinary place.

The Art Museum is part of Cranbrook Educational Community, which also includes Cranbrook's Academy of Art, Institute of Science, Schools, and other affiliated cultural and educational programs. Cranbrook's Art Museum is accredited fully by the American Association of Museums.
