About Pro Player Stadium
A Miami Tradition

Pro Player Stadium was the first of its kind to be constructed entirely with private funds. The first professional football game was held on August 16, 1987 -- a preseason game between the Miami Dolphins and the Chicago Bears. Major League baseball came to South Florida and Dolphins Stadium on April 5, 1993 when the Florida Marlins hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers.
